We are so far away, now, from the original computer games, it doesn’t seem outrageous to claim that in a few years we might achieve complete virtual reality and, indeed, become a race unsure of what is real and what is unreal, as portrayed in films such as The Matrix. Most people have only experienced fully functioning 3D games with decent graphics, but games had beginnings routed in the very basics of electronics and computing. Arcades were one of the coolest experiences of our childhood. Those dark, dank and sometimes dubious places provided for hours and hours of fun, money spending and skill acquiring. If you, too, were an Arcade Kid, you might have experienced some of these supreme, elating moments, a focal point in the life of any gamer.

The Pac-Man Ghost Bug – Avoiding the Pac-Man ghosts is no mean feat. Every now and then, though, the gods of arcade games favored you, and you experienced a wonderful bug. While hitting the evil ghost, it simply went through you instead of killing you. How’s that for sheer, dumb luck?

Seeing Naked Girls - No, no naked girls roamed the arcades of the 80s to the best of our knowledge, but there was at least one game that let you see images of naked Japanese girls – Gal’s Panic. Advancing through the levels, you gradually undressed the girls on the screen by killing evil enemies, and eventually you got to the two things you really wanted to see: TITTIES!

Kicking the Shit out of your Friend – Since we couldn’t REALLY beat the shit out of anyone, arcade games were a good substitute. Disassembling your best friend on Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat was one of the most satisfying things around.

Learning From the Pros - You know those games that ate up all your money and you could hardly advance a few levels in them? Those could be really frustrating, but luckily, there was always an ace player around. The best way to learn was to stalk the pro-gamer while he was playing your favorite hard game, hover over his shoulder and watch him find all the secret items, kill all the bosses and avoid all the traps. After such a thorough lesson, you got to be a pro, too. Well, some of the time, anyway.

Perfect Galaga – Getting a perfect bonus level on Galaga. Ah, sweet music to our ears!

Getting it Pinned – After finishing a pinball game, there’s this little raffle thing going on – some numbers scroll on the screen, and if they match, you get a free game. Free! No need to insert coins and shit. Winning that mini game is about as likely as winning the lottery, so it counts as golden moment in our book.

One Coin Legend – Finishing an arcade game on just one coin. Nuff said.

Carving your Initials – Much sweat, blood and aching wrists after starting a game, you finally hit a Hi-Score. That’s truly a sweet moment – writing your meaningless initials on the hi-score list. The day after you have to do it all over again, because some dumbass turned the machine off or simply got a higher score.

Getting a Free Ride – When some space cadet stops playing and leaves the machine, without realizing he’s just left you an unplayed credit.

Becoming the Center of Attention: Admiration is a wonderful, addictive thing. You don’t easily get the admiration of hardcore gamers, but when it happens, it’s a moment to remember. Imagine yourself playing your favorite game, the one that you really have mastered, and a crowd of dozens of other gamers slowly gathers behind you, whispering, oohing and ahhing, cheering you along and clapping when you finish the game as the true master you really are. That is a rare moment of respect in an arcade, and only the luckiest among us get to experience it.

These are the games you shouldn’t play when you are hungry or on a diet. They are the games that make you think and deal with sushi, pizza, hamburger and cakes.

There are many food games out there. Not surprisingly, a lot of them are time management games. It seems that Diner Dash has influenced this genre of game, and a lot of them are related to restaurants and food.

Here are 5 cool and fun food related games. You can play some of them online – and download the rest.

Cake Mania 1, 2 & 3

Although the graphics are not very realistic, Cake Mania is a very appetizing game. This time management game was developed in 2006 and became a big hit – which is why it has two sequels already. Your goal is to deliver cakes to the customers, as quickly as possible and without mistakes. The cakes you deliver to your customers are very colorful and lovely, and might make you thing about chocolate frosting and the smell of a cake baking in the oven. All in all – a yummy game.

Papa’s Pizzeria

Ahhh, pizza. The ultimate junk food, the best comfort food, the food you never get tired of. That is, until you are forced to serve it to dozens of customers a day, I guess. Papa’s Pizzeria is also a time management game, which you can play online. In this game, you are required to take customer’s orders, make their pizza according to their specific requests, cut it nicely – and deliver it to them. You get grades according to the accuracy in which you performed all of the requests, and the tip varies accordingly. As with many other games – it starts easy and becomes very tricky as you progress.

Cooking Dash

There’s no food games post without mentioning the famous Flo, I guess. Cooking Dash is yet another time management game, and is one of many sequels to Diner Dash. In Cooking Dash, you don’t just serve the food – you also cook it, which makes it a very challenging game. The sounds of the kitchen realistic and it’s hard to avoid thinking about deep frying, big sandwiches and sweet desserts. Cooking Dash is a fast-pace food game, for those already seasoned (ha ha) in time management games.

Sushi Go Round

This is one of the sweetest, coolest online games. I keep coming back to it, since it’s always challenging and fun. In Sushi Go Round, you are serving sushi to your customers. They ask for different kinds of sushi, and you have to prepare the food, remember the recipe for each sushi piece, make sure you have enough supplies, serve the food quickly and clear the plates when the clients are done eating, so new clients can have a seat. Since the sushi is served on a conveyor belt, sometimes the dish you prepare for one customer gets snatched by another, so the fun never ends. It’s a great game to take your minds off of things – unless you are craving sushi, of course.

Burger Shop is a very cool game. It’s looks like a regular time management game – serve the costumers, keep them happy, be quick etc., but it has many twists and winks, and it also feature cool music and sweet graphics. It’s also one of the more challenging games in the foodish games category. Play enough time, and you will seriously crave a burger. With bacon. And cheese. And everything else, too.
